Patio Town was founded in 1965 by Peter Blomquist. After quickly establishing itself as the first Twin Cities retail location where homeowners could buy rock, pavers and retaining wall units, Patio Town became widely known as the premier retail outlet for landscaping supplies and hard goods.

In 1975 the Patio Town family expanded by establishing a new store in Burnsville, Minn. And in 1987, Patio Town was among the first retail establishments to introduce VERSA-LOK Retaining Wall Systems to consumers. Today, VERSA-LOK is one of the leading retaining wall companies in the country. Four years later, the original Patio Town moved from its long-time residence in North St. Paul down the street to its new and present-day address in Oakdale. Finally, in 2001, Patio Town opened its newest location in Maple Grove, Minn. In 2005, Burnsville store moved to a new location.  Today, all three Patio Town locations carry a full line of retaining wall systems including VERSA-LOK, Handy-Stone and Handy-Wall products.

During the last 40 years, Patio Town has accumulated a long list of firsts in the Twin Cities retail landscaping supply sector including:

● First retail store to carry concrete pavers
● First retail store to sell out-of-state landscaping rocks
● First retail store to sell exposed aggregate stepping stones

And, during those same 40 years, Patio Town has continued to grow and assert itself as the premier retail supply store of landscaping hard goods in the Twin Cities. Today Patio Town carries 35 kinds of decorative rock and 25 different concrete retaining wall systems. And do-it-yourself seminars on installing retaining walls and paver patios are held throughout the landscaping season at all three Patio Town locations.
